Set in a property of rate and high architectural quality, this kitchen is has a calm muted feel. Styling deferential to an architectural past, yet with nods to brutalism. The addition of a walnut worktop brings warmth to the space.

Our clients required a warm and minimalist area for cooking and entertaining, as well as a separate space for work or study that flowed seamlessly into the kitchen. Asymmetrical veneered British ash and clean white fronts revealing black valchromat cut out handles, work in harmony and are used to zone the space. Our client also commission a fully bespoke table incorporating distinctive notches.

We pride ourselves on unique design features and this warm plywood project is no different. Rosso Nambib and Blu Shaba Fenix are used to bring contrasting pops of colour amongst the natural Plywood tones. Curved elements serve to soften the overall feel.

Hidden storage is cleverly integrated beneath the island seating through push-to-open panels, maximising functionality without disrupting the clean lines. The island features oak detailing, offering a warm contrast to the darker surrounding cabinetry. The clients were keen to maintain the modern feel of the architecture, but with a preference to avoid an overly minimal or sterile look. To bring warmth and character, varied tones of oak and layered natural materials were introduced throughout.

Framed by ever-changing trees, this Bauhaus-inspired space celebrates balance – between light and shadow, colour and calm.Use of a timeless navy is deep enough to hold its own beside the view, yet soft enough to let nature remain the star. The space feels more like a continuation of the architecture than a separate decorative zone.Blue glazed tiles bring contrast to the oak cabinetry, their subtle sheen catching the shifting light and shadow from outside. Tiles within the oak shelving and cabinetry create a considered frame.

Warm oak frontage compliments the existing beams present throughout the space. Muted terrazzo work surfaces and matte Fenix finishes provide contrast to the natural wood, while ribbed glass cabinet doors add tasteful texture. A built- in pantry affords concealed practicality.

Our Process

Our transparent process, from initial contact to installation and sign off is designed to ensure the smoothest possible delivery of your project.

Contact

An email or call for a brief initial discussion about your requirements is the first step. We can use this time to get an overall brief for the project – styles, materials, design features and any timelines you need to work to. You may have a clear vision for the project or prefer our designers to help steer your ideas.

Consultation

A Notch designer will assess your space via a video call or in-person visit, providing sketches, samples, and lookbooks to aid in the decision-making process. Your usage, storage, and aesthetic needs will be considered, and you can visit the workshop at any stage. A concept design and quote will be provided based on your feedback.

Design

Upon approval of the design and cost proposal, we request a deposit and initiate the process of creating detailed CAD drawings and selecting materials. Decisions on finishing, appliances, and worktops are finalised. The project will commence once all details are confirmed.

Crafting

Notch’s workshop is nestled in the scenic and wooded Oxfordshire countryside, providing the ideal setting to bring your design to fruition. Our team of expert craftsmen and finishers employ top-quality materials and precise joinery techniques to guarantee a stylish and precise end product.

Install

Your assigned Notch project manager will outline timelines for all project elements, from cabinet installation to electrical and plumbing work. Our expert fitters will deliver a flawless finish. Your project manager will review and approve the project with you to ensure your complete satisfaction.

Aftercare

We provide a 10-year warranty to ensure your peace of mind and satisfaction with your new cabinetry. After completion, we will provide you with maintenance instructions to keep your furniture or kitchen in excellent condition for years to come, giving you the confidence to enjoy your investment for a long time.
